We celebrated Juneteenth in St. John Colony this year–a place where several previously enslaved families relocated to from Galveston, Texas after finding out two years later that slavery in the U.S. had been abolished per the Emancipation Proclamation, 1863.
Michael Lofton, Founder & CEO, AAYHF, great, great, grandmother, Mary Jane Jones Roland, was part of that movement and he was there for the celebration of family, community and most of all freedom!

Our Urban University Summer Campers Need Your Support!
The African American Youth Harvest Foundation is committed to serving our youth this summer. Our focus is to address out-of-school time for our youth to remain on track when they return to school. We had an overwhelming number of students, over 200, with a pending waiting list. We realize the importance of this camp because it allows the parents to know their children are in a safe environment, receive additional educational support, and exposed to new opportunities and field trips to enhance their learning. We did not want our youth to miss this opportunity or place undue hardship on our parents by not providing this safe place for their children.
The camp is going well, and the youth are having a wonderful time. However, we need additional financial support to bring in additional staff, provide hot meals and assist with field trips.
We are currently $70 K short in the budget for our camp. Can we count on your support to help get us through the end of the camp?
** Please consider making a donation today. Our kids need YOU and YOUR financial commitments to help fund the program and staff expenses.
We also need you to share this message with at least 5 family members, friends, colleagues & business leaders to help us reach our goal.
Thank you for your support!
