Giving a kind thank you to Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter of Temple, Texas, who will be participating in our August 12 Back-to-School Community Event. They will provide diapers and wipes if you are pregnant or have a child under 36 months.

Last week at AAYHF!

July 31 – Michael Lofton and wife, Elaine, were invited as Special Guests to attend the Art of Living – Sixth Sense – Meditation & Wisdom with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

August 1 – The Girls are Back – Girl’s Mentoring has resumed.

August 1 & 2 – Donations for the Backpack Giveaway. Thank you, Ms. Margie from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Dominique White for supporting our annual Back-to-School Community Event with school supplies!

August 4 – African Youth Harvest with Travis County Summer Youth Employment Appreciation Event.

August 4 – Elaine Lofton honored at the “She A Pro” Awards Dinner & Gala”.

August 5 AAYHF participated in the Back-to-School Bash with Manor ISD.

August 5 – Michael & Elaine Lofton attended the IACF Grant Distribution to receive an award on behalf of one of our partners, Hindu Charities for America (HC4A), Harish Kotecha, Founder.

August 5 – AAYHF Team (Twaski Simmons) was in Killeen, Texas for a

Back-to-School Rally!

August 6 – Thank you to HC4A (Hindu Charities for America) who donated backpacks to many local organizations and schools. We stuffed over 1,400 backpacks that was shared between other organizations and schools, such as AAYHF, AISD & MISD. We are forever grateful.

We are still accepting donations through this week.

Also, on July 25, a planning meeting for the girl’s mentoring group was held in preparation for these meetings to resume on August 1.

STEM, Technology, 3-D Printing, Gaming & Coding and more is offered at no charge for youth ages kindergarten through 12th grade inside of the Dell Tech Lounge.

STEM workshops are one of the continuous programs that AAYHF offers for young people.

What is STEM? STEM consists of the natural sciences, technology-related, engineering and math fields.

Austin Legal Access has launched a new law firm, located inside of the African American Youth Resource Center at 6633 E Hwy 290, Suite 303, Austin, Texas 78723. ALA opened its doors for legal services on March 6, 2023. Executive Director and Managing Attorney, Dyan Lofton, will be accepting cases in the following areas: Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Wills/Probate.
